A Contemporary Queenslander for Modern Family Living
Located in inner-city Brisbane, Toowong Towers transforms a modest 1930s Queenslander into a contemporary, light-filled family home designed for modern living. Instead of lifting the original house, the design retains its existing floor level to preserve its street presence and relationship to the surrounding heritage context.
A new two-storey rear extension opens the home to light, air, and garden views. At the centre, a private courtyard brings cross-ventilation, natural light, and visual connection to all rooms.
Smart level changes, custom joinery, and carefully placed windows maximise the compact footprint, creating flexible spaces for work, rest, and family life. Interiors are shaped for practicality and calm, offering places to sit, store, gather, and retreat.
Toowong Towers is a measured reimagining of the classic Queenslander. It balances heritage and innovation, delivering a sustainable, flexible home that grows with its occupants.
