Though not formally recognised as heritage, the original building was treated with respect as a familiar presence in the lives of local park users.

By maintaining the existing structure and reorganising its internal functions, the project avoids demolition in favour of a more sustainable and context-sensitive outcome. Upgrades include improved CPTED performance, DDA-compliant facilities, and robust materials suited to high-use public environments.
